If a corporation developed reliable teleportation technology tomorrow, how would it change the world?
Twelve years into the future, mankind manages to develop teleportation as a reliable transport technology for both goods and people. As usual, it doesn't think of the consequences. It can't. And as the technology unfolds, a new world develops; one where New York to Tokyo in 3.2 seconds means that you've been delayed. However, it's also one where millions are out of work because their jobs are now meaningless. It's one where national boundaries become very fuzzy things. It's one where the Internet becomes a superhighway, both literally and metaphorically.
I always found that science fiction stories featuring teleportation technology always talk about the science aspects, but never about the social implications. Hence this novel fragment. I hope to develop this into a collection of related stories/novellas/novel some day. For now, enjoy.
